The Chef

Emmanuel Janin

Chef & Owner

I am originally from Alsace, France. This beautiful region is on the border of Germany and Switzerland and is known for some of the best white wines in the world, such as Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and Tokay Pinot Gris.  At the age of fourteen I started a four-year apprenticeship as a chef.  I worked my way up through many restaurants in France learning and improving my culinary skills.  I wanted to expand my knowledge of international cuisine and worked in Germany and then twelve years in Switzerland where I became an Executive Chef in a five star hotel.  To improve and further expand my knowledge of international cuisine I took an opportunity to come to San Diego, California where I worked in the culinary department for the opening of the second tower at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel in downtown San Diego.  Then I moved to the popular fine dining restaurant, Bertrand at Mr. A’s as the Executive Sous Chef.  Next, I took the challenge to be the Executive Chef at Fairbanks Ranch Country Club in Rancho Santa Fe, California.

In 2008, my family and I decided to move to La Quinta.  I had the opportunity to be the Executive Chef for a new restaurant in Old Town La Quinta.  But my dream has always been to own and operate my own restaurant.  I am so happy to see that dream become a reality.

My wife Kara and I have been married for eleven years and we are so proud of our three kids; Vincent (10) Benjamin (7) and our sweet baby girl, Emma (4).
